Amongst the many compelling reasons why I adamantly believe that I should get off the meal-plan provided by the college wherever I may choose to go:

1) the food is unhealthy, I repeat, oil and sodium laden, fatty, leftover UNHEALTHY. that definitely makes anyone put on weight- even when you opt for the salad option because just a drizzle of the salad dressing amounts to approximately 1000 calories! (you know I’m exaggerating right, but its really to that extent)

2) I can go to exciting websites like this this and this AND this, and indulge in amazing recipes should I choose to cook my meals for myself. Nothing is more glorious than eating well-cooked food. I can even bake on my own accord. and hone all that baking skills that I have chosen to invest in.

3) I save a whole lot of money! and I cultivate healthy eating habits :]

but most of all and the reason why I really think this getting-off-meal-plan is a fabulous and wonderful idea:

4) Food can always be used as means of ministry! think about how Jesus worked!: he ate with taxpayers, five loaves and two fishes, feeding people, connecting with people over meals. Food is always essential, everyone has to eat! so all the more reasons to invite people over telling them all the superb reasons to abandon college-cooked food and join me for a healthy meal so that we can talk and get to know each other better! or even for catch up over tea and cupcakes in the lovely weather on picnic mats.

this is my compelling reason, after reading:

2 Corinthians 2:14: “But thanks be to God who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of Him everywhere.

read it again: through us (God uses us!, his people!) spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of Him everywhere (everywhere!- anywhere He might call us to) furthermore, victory is secured: triumphal procession.

I know I can build ministry anywhere.
just takes a little creativity, much prayer and immense trust.

I can’t wait for next semester:
Can almost smell the fragrance of good food.

of porridge, miso soup and horses.

Were Family!

We're Family!

The shoo-how family met up, despite having half the family members not turning up to the gathering. We had a blast! it was extremely funny and heart-warming to gather with them and to just catch up, learn how to speak cantonese (dai ga sey fun), try to relive our childhood and remember Elizabeth’s birthday.

it was an amazing evening and the food was oh so gloriously delicious. :] (thanks to Bridg and Gera!). this bunch of lovely friends, well, what can I say? truly, God thank you.

Night owls

I am back from night cycling with melanie tan! and I am hardly tired. (maybe later..) We fell asleep at east coast macs from 4AM-5:30AM and spent a whole night adventure around singapore! we went to the other side, which we’ve come to love: We cycled to West Coast park and took a cool drink at Macs. & we went crazy at the playground which was awfully big, with melanie trying to make me dizzy with all that spinning equipment they have there! and then, we went to our now beloved Cheong Chin Nam Road (Steph, we are still waiting to bring you and had many steph-greedy moments where we wanted to eat almost everything!). Their drinks are THE BEST. :]

Iced nescafe rocks!

Iced nescafe rocks!

and then we breezed through orchard road and reached east coast at 4AM. and we watched the sunrise at Changi! (it was awesomely beautiful to just bask in the sunlight and admire God’s creation!)

Admiring God's creation.

Admiring God's creation

I’m home and I have a whirlwind of thoughts flooding my mind. There were quiet moments along the journey which gave me alot alot of time to think, especially when we had to ride single-file along the roads and we couldn’t talk. I thought and I thought and I prayed and I organised my thoughts. I must now go write it down! before I forget. :]

Mel, another round please!

HOKKAIDO BUTTER MANJU CAKES are heaven.

Try it soon @ Tampines Hokkaido Fair.
its pure delight. Even though Elizabeth and I queued for an hour. :) but it was worth it!

We spent the hour talking non-stop and realising that for our 7 years of friendship, and counting, I have never visited her home.

So I’m going soon!

But, Godliness with contentment, is great gain.

My exciting life is filled with many fun activities, unexpected news and so many good things to thank God for. :)

Firstly, I’VE FOUND AN EXERCISE BUDDY IN STEPHANIE SIM! we went to work out in the gym last thursday. Targeting aerobics with the rowing and biking machine. T’was fun! :)

Well, I’m extending my relief teaching in Katong Convent for another week. It’s bittersweet. Sweet because I know I’m no longer going to be alone! :) Mel’s starting work! or for the matter of fact, already started work. So no more lonely moments in the gym or in the staff room where the radio station FM98.7 is my only companion. hahaha. Bitter because I still struggle with handling the girls. Not that they’re terrible people, but it takes alot of effort and energy just to plan an what-seems-ordinary Mathematics lesson. And it takes more effort than ever to transpose knowledge from my brain to theirs. I thank God, nevertheless because through this opportunity, He has given me the chance to learn patience, in it’s fullest extent. And to reminisce my Kc days. The girls I teach has facets of my KC experience embedded in each of them. There is the loud, the hilarious, the proud, the quiet as well as the weird (not in a bad sense). In them, I see myself. Girls brimming with potential, both beautiful and intelligent, and perhaps, overly-proud sometimes, but nevertheless friendly and personal. A mathematics lesson with 305 on friday proved itself to be highly entertaining. They wanted to play charades because they were so sick of math, so I relented. And they began to act out all the different teachers!- it was seriously hilarious! I hope my remaining week in KC would prove itself to be significant. I know not what to expect, but I pray that God will show me what He wants me to learn and carry out His purpose through me.

Yesterday (Saturday), was brimming with excitement. Elizabeth and I decided to cook for Australian-bound Geraldyne, and the Monthly Club! It was so tiring to just whip up a full dinner with dessert included, but we survived!, and none died of food poisoning! :) So we’re good. :D Totally enjoyed the time spent with liz while we were whipping up the lovely feast. We decided that we should retire as chefs and set up a cafe or restaurant! :) Afterwards, dinner was filled with laughter and entertainment as Mel tried to act out all those weird adverts! (esp, the starhub and M1 one.) We spent the last night together as THE MONTHLY CLUB, as we lose one member (gera) when she leaves for aus on tuesday. “I’m going to miss you.” <– this is an understatement. So please turn on skype AT ALL TIMES and add me!, geraldyne how. Last night’s farewell caused me to lie awake on my bed for a while before I switched off the lights. We’re all beginning our fresh new journeys, be it locally or abroad, It’s the most exciting part of our lives!, as we transition from ladies to women. Each vastly different in character, pursuing different passions, but yet has found common ground in KC. :) COME HOME SOON GERA. (okay, I know you’re going to say, I’m the one who’s not coming home right…) I will try to come home too! :D

Today’s sermon in church left a deep indent in my heart. Centered on the theme on contentment in a world who does not have enough, the message left me thinking. Largely due to the fact that I am going to get my pay soon! So just figuring what I’d do with the money. I know I have alot of things I want to buy, but really, maybe I should be investing the money in something else. And I have a world of ideas, on what to do with the money :) I hope that my plans would please the Lord. :)

I carried Sophia today. For the first time ever since she was born. :) Mix-blood babies have got it good. She’s so pretty with blond hair and looks exactly like Agi. She was so friendly in allowing me to carry her without crying, not until she saw too many unfamiliar faces and longed for her daddy or mommy. She speaks in soft tones (making funny baby noises) and loves big teddy bears which she conveniently puts into her mouth (maybe cos she’s teething?) At 10 months, She’s one cute, beautiful and lovely babe. I pray she grows up seeking to know her creator and king better and better. :) If there was a cutest-baby-contest in church, i’d vote her. :) Okay lah, all the other kiddos in church look cute too, like Nathan and Lambert and Kaylie-mae, the list goes on.

Thank God;

for exercise buddies
for learning opportunities
for struggles I face in school
for good nourishing friendships
for thought-provoking sermons
for beautiful babies

In everything, Give Thanks.
